Things I Want To Learn About in 2017

Being smart, knowing things, whatever you want to call it—that’s really important to me. The older I get, the more desperate I am to learn anything and everything. I learnt a lot in 2016, but there’s so much out there. Here are just a few things I’d like to learn about in 2017.

German

I took German lessons for a while, but I had to stop when I starting working full-time. I want to pick them up again, because I do really love learning languages.

Mythology

I love reading books about Greek mythology, and I’ve been looking into some other countries’ mythologies too. You’ll hear more about that in a post later this month. But, I’d really like to know at least the basics of some other countries and cultures.

Marketing

I work in marketing as part of my job, and before starting in November, I really didn’t know anything about it. I surprised myself by being actually really interested in it, and I’d like to learn more. I’m considering doing a short online course, but I might just read some books on the topic, or both!

Web & Graphic Design

You’re probably going to see this new love of mine coming through on the blog in the coming weeks and months. That’s right, you heard it here first—Mich and I are planning a re-design. I have a lot more to learn before then!

Disability

I won’t talk about this too much, because I do want to expand on this next week for Disability Diaries. I’d like to learn more about different disabilities. At the moment I have a few in mind from reading books about them, but I’ll share those later.

Is anyone else obsessed with learning new things like I am? Do you want to learn any of these things?

  1. This is a smart post! It’s always good to keep learning and grow as a person. I can’t say that I have a list of things that I want to learn but I have a lot of projects that I want to take on that will definitely involve a lot of learning in the process.

Is there a reason why you took German lessons previously? I think German is an interesting choice for another language. I think learning a language would be too much on my plate right now.

When I was younger I loved Greek mythology. I did take a course on it in university but, ultimately, my knowledge is rusty. I do enjoy reading books that adapt myths.

I wish you luck on your learning!

  2. This is a great list! It’s awesome to keep pushing yourself to learn new things. I’d love to pick up Mandarin again and maybe teach myself some CSS and HTML. Given I’ll be in the second half of my master’s degree, however, I’ll realistically be too busy to focus much energy on anything else but my course (and hopefully my writing). I look forward to the Disability Diaries, and good luck with your learning!

  3. I think it’s important to always learn new things. I learn german by myself and it’s cool and I’d love to learn more languages. I love mythology as well and I think learn about various mythologies is awesome decision. 🙂

  4. German’s my mothertongue, and I really don’t understand why people’d want to learn it… it’s such an ugly language 😛 but I hope you’ll enjoy it! I’d really love to learn Norwegian and I’m going to start asap.

I love mythology too! Currently I’m reading up on Roman history and their gods, because I know so little about it. But I’m also planing a trip to Greece and all the historical places, because I find greek mythology the most interesting of all. 🙂

This is such an interesting list and I think it’s really great what kind of topics you’d like to learn more about. Good luck! 🙂
