I was tagged very recently to do the Secret Life of a Book Blogger tag by the extremely awesome Lara. She’s a superhero, so if you’re not following her already then you should. Anyway, let’s get onto the tag!
HOW LONG HAVE YOU BEEN A BLOGGER?
Tea & Titles has only been running for 14 months, but before that I blogged on A Book So Fathomless for three years, so in total I’ve been blogging for four and a bit years.
AT WHAT POINT DO YOU THINK YOU’LL STOP BLOGGING?
I’d like to say never, but once I have a full-time job (hopefully in publishing) and am living it up in London (also, hopefully), maybe I won’t have as much time. I never expected to do this for four years, so we’ll just have to see where life takes me.
WHAT IS THE BEST THING ABOUT BLOGGING?
Friends. I have met 95% of my best friends through the book community, including Michelle. I have so many wonderful friends, and I’m truly grateful to know you all.
WHAT IS THE WORST THING? WHAT DO YOU DO TO MAKE IT OK?
People are rude. In fact, that’s really the worst thing about life. Most of the bloggers I’ve ever spoken to are lovely, but I’ve met a few who aren’t so lovely. I don’t like confrontation, so I tend to stay away from those not so great people.
HOW LONG DOES IT TAKE YOU TO MAKE/FIND PICTURES TO USE?
Somewhere between half an hour and two hours depending on the picture I need to make. I try to be quick, but that doesn’t always happen.
WHO IS YOUR BOOK CRUSH?
Sirius Black. Sirius is love.
WHAT AUTHOR WOULD YOU LIKE TO HAVE ON YOUR BLOG?
Ellie Marney. I love Ellie, and her Every series (which I’m sure you’ve all heard me mention a million times). I want to convince more people to read her books, and I don’t know how anyone could see her talk about them and not be convinced to pick them up. You’ll see what I mean in this interview.
WHAT DO YOU WEAR WHEN YOU WRITE YOUR BLOG POST?
Clothes. Seriously, I wear some kind of clothes.
(Okay, but does anyone have a special blogging outfit?)
HOW LONG DOES IT TAKE YOU TO PREPARE?
I don’t really know what ‘prepare’ refers to. Prepare blog posts? Prepare myself? Prepare you guys for my fangirling? I don’t know.
HOW DO YOU FEEL ABOUT THE BOOK BLOGGER COMMUNITY?
Like I said before, most people are incredible. There are people I respect but never speak to, and then there are all of my lovely, lovely human friends. I stay in the book community because of those people. Spoiler; if I speak to you frequently on Twitter then you’re on this list.
On the other hand, I think there’s a lot of division in the book community. There’s a distance between bloggers, booktubers and bookstagrammers. I’ve talked about this quite a lot with both Angel and Miranda, but I honestly don’t understand why this is. We’re all here to support books and authors, so why can’t we support each other?
WHAT DO YOU THINK ONE SHOULD DO TO GET A SUCCESSFUL BLOG?
Be yourself. My favourite blogs are the ones who aren’t afraid to be themselves—they have fun blogging and they write about what they want. I love blogs that are different—the ones that don’t talk about the same books everyone else is.
I believe that you should blog for yourself, and if you aren’t enjoying it then why continue?
I hope some of my answers interested you all. I’ve been swamped with work (more on that at the end of the month), so I haven’t had any time to do anything. It’s all thanks to Lara that you lot are even reading this post. If I make it to the weekend then hopefully you’ll get some more posts!
Anyway, I’m tagging a few lovelies. Namely;
