Pre-NaNoWriMo Goals: 2016 Edition

Some of you may remember last year I did a post about some of the pre NaNoWriMo writing goals I had. Well, this year I decided I was going to do the same. I haven’t been writing a whole lot lately, but you can see more about that in my latest writing update. NaNoWriMo is the highlight of my year, so I know I’m going to participate whether I’m writing loads or not.

As I’ve been super busy, this year I only came up with five goals. There’s a few easy one on there, and a few not so easy but they are all things I’ve been planning to get done for months now.

The Goals

  • Finish first draft of Abditory
  • Finish magic system re-plan for Tied Together
  • Read through Abditory
  • Send Abditory to betas
  • Plan Untethered (NaNo novel…probably)

So that’s what I’ve got so far. Depending on how everything goes I might add more goals to this list, or change the ones I’ve already got. I do have a few other small goals in mind right now, but none of them are as important as these ones. I’ll keep you all updated on how these go in my mid-monthly writing updates.

I know this is pretty early to be thinking about NaNo, but I always feel like November is the start of my new writing year. Everything I’ve been working on lately I’ve been working on since last NaNo, so I sort of feel like I need to wrap up some of those things.

Do any of you have pre NaNoWriMo goals? Or maybe just writing goals for the end of the year? If you do, then please share them below and we can hopefully keep each other motivated!

  1. GOOD LUCK WITH ALL YOUR GOALS, LOVE. Unfortunately, November tends to be the busiest month of the year for me in terms of school. We get out in mid-December, so our teachers start panicking and cramming tons of material in. I do have a goal to write 400 words a day, however – I’ve been doing it for about a week, and it’s going well so far!

  2. Good luck Ely! 🙂 I’m not a NaNoWriMo-er, but my writing goals for this year mainly focus on writing more and getting my Cinderella posts done without the interference of metaphorical kidnapping nuns. 😉

  3. Those are good goals! I have some pre-NaNo goals myself! I need to finish going through beta feedback, write book proposals, send full manuscripts and proposals to publishers, then start planning my NaNo novel.

  4. Yay for writing goals! I feel the same way about the writing year kind of starting in November with NaNoWriMo. You’ve reminded me I need to do a Pre-NaNoWriMo goals list too, although I kind of have to-do list post already planned for this Wednesday…I can’t believe it’s already going to be September!

  5. I’ve never done NaNo, and honestly the whole idea sounds fabulous … but it also fills me with dread. Because November is a crazy month school-wise, and honestly I struggle to write my enforced 300 words a day plus blogging. I think NaNo would involve me disappearing so completely from the internet that you’d worry for my life.

One day, maybe, I’ll be brave enough.
