Library Books I’ve Got On Hold

Posted August 5, 2017 by Michelle in Lists / 5 Comments

I love books, but I can’t always afford books. I can however afford the 7 minute walk to the library to fill my need for new reading material. Today I thought I would share with you which books I’ve got on hold at my local library and why I want to read them.

The Curated Closet by Anushka Rees

You may have seen me talk a little bit about this book in a recent Last 5 on our TBR post that Ely and I did, however I am going to talk about it again because I say so. This book is basically a guide to creating and understanding your personal style and has information on capsule wardrobes and minimalism. I have been getting more and more into the minimalist lifestyle recently so am excited to see what this book offers and if I find it helpful.

Sleeping Giants by Sylvain Neuval : Audiobook

I have heard absolutely amazing things about this book and some especially amazing things about the audiobook version of it. I remember actually seeing this at Dymocks a while ago and taking a photo of it so I remembered to put it on my tbr. I had since forgotten about this book but recent hype has me interested again. This book sounds pretty baddass too, about discovering giant limbs around the world and shizz, very cool.

The Life Changing Magic of Tidying Up by Marie Kondo

I have heard a lot of mixed opinions of this book, some people swear by the konmari method whereas others find it preposterous.  The idea of this book is to help you declutter and clean up your life by getting rid of any objects/possessions in it that don’t bring you joy or serve a purpose. As I mentioned above I am getting more involved with the minimalist lifestyle and this book is making waves among the movement.

You are a Badass by Jen Sincero

I recently read Jens other novel, You are a Badass at Making Money and I absolutely loved it. I believe this book is similar to the one I have already read but instead of the focus of money this book focuses on manifestation in a broader capacity in your life. I’ve been looking forward to this one for a while and I hope it comes soon.

Do you also take advantage of the library’s hold system? have you got any on hold right now? Let me know in the comments.

  1. I work at a library and let’s just say that I VERY much take advantage of holds. (This past week, I had seventeen items on hold for me at the desk. LOL!) I currently have the new Miles Morales: Spider-Man novel on hold–which I’m pretty excited to read–and the second season of The Expanse. Can’t wait to pick those up next week!

  2. You can walk to your local library in SEVEN MINUTES? I honestly wish I could be you, that’s beyond fabulous. It takes me at least twenty minutes in the car, plus the extra half hour or so required to beg a parent to drive me … which doesn’t stop me going, of course!

I’m starting to think that I don’t take advantage of holds (or reservations, as we insist on calling them in Britain) nearly enough. I was working at a library for a few weeks last month as work experience, and there are some people who must make two or three reservations A DAY. It must be so exciting to constantly get book mail you only have to pay a couple of pence for.

  3. I feel like everyone is suddenly reading Sleeping Giants! The book does sound pretty cool though. I love the library’s hold system, though sometimes I go overboard and put way too many things on hold! At the moment I have the audiobook of The Other Half of Happiness by Ayisha Malik and Strange the Dreamer on hold. I think it’ll be a while before I get them!
