I want to apologise right off the bat if this post doesn’t make much sense. I’m so tired that I completely forgot to post yesterday for the first time in the history of forever. I hope you can forgive me!
Anyway, I wanted to talk a bit about my favourite genre—crime. More specifically, crime shows. I’ll be sharing three favourites, and three that are on my watchlist.
The Closer/Major Crimes
This makes my top 3 list of all-time favourite shows, even though it’s technically two shows. The Closer is the first series, which is headed by the amazing Brenda Leigh Johnson (played by Kyra Sedgwick), and Major Crimes is a follow on led by Sharon Raydor. The characters in this show are my favourite cast in anything ever—they’re interesting, they’re funny and I just love them. If you need a reason to watch this, then I’ve got five right here.
Miss Fisher’s Murder Mysteries
Miss Fisher’s is an Australian TV show, filmed in my hometown of Melbourne. It’s set in the 1920’s, and it’s just gorgeous. The crimes are a little different from the usual crime show because of the period, but they’re so interesting. Plus, Detective Inspector Jack Robinson is to die for!
This is another Aussie TV show, though this is set in Sydney. Again, it’s 1920s but it focuses more on the criminals than the police. It’s the story of two rival crime queens, Tilly Devine and Kate Leigh who pretty much tore apart Sydney with their razor gangs (literally, gangs that killed people with razors). This one is very dark and gritty, but I love it.
This has Aaron Tveit from Les Mis in it, which is the original reason I was interested in this. I saw the trailer and it looks pretty good, so I’d like to give it ago.
I saw one episode of this ages ago, but I love James Norton a lot. Most of the time I tend to enjoy British crime more than American, so I have high hopes for this.
Law & Order: SVU
Here’s a confession…before today I’d never seen an episode of this before. I watched the first episode earlier and I enjoyed it. I’m not really interested in any of the characters but Olivia Benson right now, but I’m totally okay with that.
On that note, I’m going to go back to my binge of Major Crimes and my cup of tea. I hope I’ll have the time tomorrow to actually get some blogging done!
